Rolls-Royce, the British luxury automobile icon, has unveiled the second edition of its ultra-exclusive Droptail model, christened the “Amethyst Droptail.” Coming on the heels of the debut of the first Droptail, this bespoke vehicle emphasizes opulence, class, and innovation, showcasing the brand’s unwavering commitment to redefining luxury automotive design.
A Mesmerizing Dual-Tone Finish A key highlight of the Amethyst Droptail is its dual-tone purple paintwork. The base layer is a soft shade of purple with a silver undertone. Layered atop this base is a deeper purple hue infused with blue, red, and violet mica flakes, resulting in a lustrous surface that captures and plays with light. This unique paint job is a testament to the brand’s penchant for perfection and exclusivity.
Adding to the exterior’s allure, the Droptail features a manually polished grille. Beneath it lies a cutting-edge air intake, made from a lightweight composite material, crafted through precision printing. An astounding 202 hand-polished stainless steel bars, painted in the Globe Amaranth shade, add to the grille’s elegance.
Wood as an Aerodynamic Force Perhaps the most novel feature of this edition is the aerodynamic wooden surface, conspicuously placed at the rear. It’s a groundbreaking venture, with Rolls-Royce claiming the Amethyst Droptail to be the world’s first car where a wooden surface aids in aerodynamics, generating downforce.
Electrochromatic Glass and Luxurious Interiors Customized as per the client’s request, the Droptail sports electrochromatic glass, which can shift its color based on transparency. When opaque, the glass exudes a faint purple hue, while a clear state offers a shade complementing the car’s brown upholstery. Inside, brown leather contrasts against the purple paint, while a decorative wooden ornament on the dashboard adds sophistication. And, much like the first Droptail, the Amethyst edition boasts a timepiece, courtesy of Vacheron Constantin.
