The iconic American automaker has announced a remarkable achievement for its famed Jeep Wrangler: 5 million units have now been sold since its inception. With legendary roots tracing back to the Willys, it’s no surprise the Wrangler has established itself as one of the most formidable off-roaders on the market.

The journey began in 1987 when the first generation of the Wrangler, codenamed YJ, rolled off the assembly line. From 1987 to 1995, this model saw over 630,000 units sold. Since then, the Jeep Wrangler has experienced three more generational launches in 1996 (TJ), 2006 (JK), and 2017 (JL).

Over the years, the Wrangler has also made its mark in Europe, particularly with the introduction of various limited editions such as the 10th Anniversary, Golden Eagle, and Backcountry. In 2021, European enthusiasts welcomed perhaps the most advanced Wrangler ever: the plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe. Boasting a 2.0-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric unit, the 4xe produces an impressive 380 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque.

The 5-millionth Wrangler found its home in New Jersey, USA. In celebration of this milestone, the owner will receive Jeep Performance components worth $5,000.
