Exclusive Porsche 911 Ruf Tribute, boasting a 550 horsepower engine and carbon-fiber chassis, pays homage to Porsche’s classic lineage.
The renowned German automaker, Ruf, has unveiled its latest marvel at the Monterey Car Week in California. With roots tracing back to the iconic CTR Yellowbird, Ruf has crafted a contemporary tribute to the classic air-cooled Porsche 911, aptly named the “Ruf Tribute.” This unique model is produced as a one-of-a-kind, embodying a fusion of technological advancements and aesthetic allure.
Driving the Ruf Tribute is a specially-designed 3.6-liter, 6-cylinder air-cooled boxer engine, fully developed in-house by Ruf. The engine holds particular significance as it has been conceptualized by the company’s chief, Alois Ruf Jr., son of the brand’s founder. Armed with dual turbochargers, variable timing valves, a dry sump lubrication system, and a cutting-edge 4-cam, 3-valve technology, this engine is touted as a first for an air-cooled variant.
Furthermore, this powerhouse incorporates dual intercoolers, adjustable hydraulic valves, fly-by-wire throttle, two-stage resonance induction, and twin catalytic converters. The result? A staggering 550 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and a torque of 750 Nm. However, performance metrics for this singular model remain under wraps.
Pairing with its potent engine, the Ruf Tribute sports a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, integrated roll-cage, and a pushrod suspension system with double wishbones on all corners. Visually, the car captivates with its olive-hued paintwork complemented by uniquely designed golden rims. Departing from the conventional, retractable door handles are embedded, and the head and tail lights showcase a refreshed luminescent signature.
As of now, Ruf remains tight-lipped on the Tribute’s pricing. It’s also uncertain whether this masterstroke will see multiple productions in the future.
