Chinese automaker, BYD, is expanding its electric footprint in Europe with the introduction of its new mid-sized electric sedan, the Seal. Available in two variants, one promises a driving range of up to 570 kilometers.
BYD Seal: A Closer Look
Breaking down barriers in the electric vehicle segment, the Seal is BYD’s latest offer for European customers. The sedan boasts a sleek and fluid design, measuring 4800mm in length, 1875mm in width, and 1460mm in height. With a wheelbase extending 2920mm, the Seal promises ample space for passengers.
For the European market, BYD will roll out two versions of the Seal: the Design and Excellence-AWD. Both come equipped with an 82.5 kWh battery pack. The Design model is powered by a single electric motor, pushing out 313 horsepower to the rear wheels and boasting an impressive 570-kilometer range.
On the other hand, the Excellence-AWD variant employs a dual electric motor system resulting in an all-wheel-drive setup. This powerhouse generates a combined 530 horsepower but offers a slightly reduced range of 520 kilometers.
Quick charging won’t be an issue for Seal owners. The sedan can draw up to 150 kW from a rapid charging station, replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
Although BYD has yet to reveal the Seal’s pricing details for Europe, sales are anticipated to commence in the last quarter of 2023.
